Creative Loafing’s Holiday Auction 2012

Each year for the past three years, Creative Loafing has held a holiday auction benefiting The Children’s Home, a great local charity helping to meet the needs of abused and neglected kids. Local businesses donate products, services, tickets to events, etc. and the community bids on them with all proceeds going to the charity. Each year there are cool an interesting things on the block, and this year is no exception, especially in the “beer department!” (and they also make really good holiday gifts for the beer-lover in your life… just sayin’…)

Happy Hour & Brewery Tour at Cold Storage Craft Brewery – Happy hour just got happier: With this item, you and a maximum of 19 of your luckiest friends get a two-hour Happy Hour and Brewery Tour at one of Tampa’s newest breweries. Package includes free beer and light hors d’oeuvres.

Homebrewing 101 with Booth’s – Join the craft beer-making craze with a starter kit from Booth’s Brewing & Bar Supply, plus four classes. Hop to it!

A Beer a Week for a Year from Dunedin Brewery – Not that anyone needs an excuse to drink the fine beverages at Dunedin Brewery, but here’s an incentive that’s hard to pass up: Once a week when you say to yourself, “Hey, I could use a beer,” you’ll be able to get a free one  a pint at Dunedin Brewery, chosen from any of the Brewery’s standard ales.

Brewmaster for a Day at Three Palms Brewing – A fine new brewery in Tampa is offering beer-ophiles a golden opportunity: You get to brew a 5-gallon batch of your choosing, and Three Palms Brewing will bottle it in 22-oz. bottles. The winning bidder is welcome to provide a recipe, suggest a style or have Three Palms create one for them using one of their existing recipes. Everything will be provided from start to finish.

Brewer for a Day at Tampa Bay Brewing Company – An auction item so wildly popular we had to bring it back again this year: Join forces with Tampa Bay Brewing Company Head Brewer David Doble to become a brewing apprentice for a day. You will assist David as he concocts one of the house beers (and he might even let you pick which one). After you are done, TBBC will give you a t-shirt so you won’t be covered in grain when you go home. Then you and 10 of your friends will be invited back about a month later to celebrate the tapping of the beer you helped brew. TBBC will provide the pizza and pitchers of beer for your party. And to really get the full experience of being a brewer, you will go home with a gallon jug of beer of your choice and a four-pack of TBBC’s newly canned beer.

Hunahpu Day at Cigar City Brewing – Every year in March Cigar City releases its Mayan Chocolate-inspired beer which goes by the name of Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout. This bold stout is aged on a variety of chili peppers, Madagascar vanilla, cinnamon and Peruvian Cacao. The winning bidder will be Cigar City’s guest on Hunahpu’s day. The winner will receive advance access (for the winner and 1 guest) to the release party, 1 case of 2013 Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout, 1 mixed case of the previous three years vintages of Hunahpu (2010, 2011 and 2012), 10 beer tickets, and last but not least a framed display of four years of Hunahpu labels autographed by Cigar City Brewing Brewmaster Wayne Wambles.

So get to it! Start bidding! Do it for the children…

Cheers…
