Speakers Announced for World Beer Festival in St. Pete
Call it shameless self-promotion; I don’t care. I am thrilled and honored to announce that I am one of the featured presenters at the September 22nd World Beer Festival in St. Petersburg. I am joined by two other outstanding individuals, Gerard Walen and Danny Reid, and I am humbled to be included with the two of them.
Gerard Walen is a mainstay in the Florida craft beer scene, running both the Road Trips for Beer and Beer in Florida websites. He has been a presenter at the Beer Bloggers Conference, a contributor to numerous blogs, as well as a featured writer for Beer Advocate magazine. He also happens to be a friend of mine. He is going to give the talk “Why Did They Name It THAT?!”, a look at some of the beer names from some popular Florida breweries.
Danny Reid is a local homebrewer and a Captain in the U.S. Army. He is also the head of the Special Hoperations homebrew club and will be giving the talk “Zymurgy: How the small, simple act of yeast eating sugar gives us so many great fermented beverages.”
During my session, I will be talking about the history of beer in Florida, from the pre-prohibition days to today’s booming craft beer scene.
All of the sessions will be accompanied by beer tastings (different beers in each session).
I am very excited to be a part of this event. Tickets are still available from the World Beer Festival site or at some local craft beer establishments.
Cheers!
Congratulations Sean!
