Tampa Bay Beer Week
Finally, the idea that had been swirling around our collective Floridian heads has come to fruition. Our envy of other cities/states will 
finally be reciprocated. Tampa Bay is getting its own Beer Week! While not all of the details have been finalized, a number of events are already lined up on both sides of the bay, and it looks to be a great week from start to finish.

Tampa Bay Beer Week is a series of events supported by local brewers, distributors, and vendors during the first week of March to celebrate both local and imported craft beers availible in the Tampa Bay area.
Beer in Tampa Bay is something to celebrate. With the recent arrival of several new breweries, along with the success of our established ones, the Tampa Bay area is experiencing a renaissance in craft beer. In recognition of this, your local breweries, distributors, and vendors have collaborated to showcase the beers that make all corners of Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas County the beer Mecca of Florida. Join us during March 2nd – 11th (even in the week prior) at the many events around the bay. The event list is always growing. Raise your glass, goblet, stein or tankard. Cheers!
Details are slim at this point, but as they become available, I will do what I can to keep you updated. Some of the events include:
Saturday, March 3 – Florida Brewers Guild presents Beerfest 2012. Come sample over 100 Florida-made craft brews at this wildly popular event held rain or shine in Centro Ybor! This event sells out every year, so get your tickets early. Advance tickets $30, day of (good luck) $40.
Sunday, March 4 – Brewer’s Ball at Skipper’s Smokehouse, Tampa. Tickets to this event are very limited and can be hard to come by. But it is totally worth trying.
Craft Beer and Chili Cook-Off at Yoeman’s Pub on Davis Island, Tampa! Details coming soon.
Tuesday, March 6 – Beers, Bites, and Brushes – A night of “Fresh from Florida” Beer, food and art. American Style tapas, paired with local Florida Breweries and local art. More details coming soon!
Wednesday, March 7 – Beer Cocktail Night at Ciro’s Speakeasy & Supper Club, Tampa.
Thursday, March 8 – Cigar City Brewery showcase at The Ale and The Witch, Saint Petersburg.
Local Beer Only Zombie Pub Crawl in Ybor City.
Firkins & Food Trucks at Barley Mow Brewing Company, Largo.
Saturday, March 10 – Hunahpu’s Release Day at Cigar City Brewing, Tampa.
Obviously, no one will be able to make every event, but there will be no shortage of options! I fully expect to see a LOT more events pop up in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

A great idea for the Tampa area, and I hope Pasco and Hernado counties may get involved as it progresses. Also, a great venu for all of the breweriana collectors in the area ( can’t wait to see those new Cigar Brewery canned beers!).
